Idli – Sambhar – Coconut & Tomato Chutney

 

COCONUT CHUTNEY

Ingredients:

  • Coconut – 1cup (chopped/grated) 
  • Roasted Channa Dal – 1 tbsp
  • Roasted Urrat dal- 1 tbsp
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Salt- 1tbsp

For Chutney Tempering:

  • Mustard oil- 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds- 1 tbsp
  • Some curry leaves
  • Red dry chillies – 3
  • Sesame Seed (Til)- 1 tbsp

Method:

  • Take a grinder jar and add all the ingredients mentioned above.
  • Grind well and pour into a bowl.
  • Now prepare the tempting and mix well for delicious flavours and aroma. 

TOMATO CHUTNEY

Ingredients:

  • Big Tomatoes – 2
  • Ginger- 1 inch
  • Garlic- 5-6 cloves
  • Green chillies- 2-3
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Hing- a pinch
  • Onion (optional)- 1
  • Red chilli powder (if you want to brighten coloured chutney)- 1tsp
  • Tamarind – soak in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes

For Chutney Tempering:

  • Mustard oil- 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  • Some curry leaves
  • Red dry chillies – 3
  • Sesame Seed (Til)- 1 tsp

Method:

  • Put a pan on low medium flame, now add oil than hing, and onions and cook till they are transparent.
  • Then add red chilli powder, diced tomatoes, chopped ginger, garlic, green chillies and salt.
  • Now cook for 5 minutes on low flame, then add 2 glasses of water and cook until tomatoes get soft.
  • Reduce water or add according to your choice, and let the chutney masala cool.
  • Take a grinder jar and add all the cooked masala.
  • Grind well and pour into a bowl.
  • Now prepare the tempting and mix well for delicious flavours and aroma.
