Sweet Roasted Makhana

Try this healthy dessert recipe that you can eat in a guilt-free manner. You just need 3 ingredients to make this snack/dessert and savour it anytime you want. Prepare in less than 10 minutes, this Sweet Makhana recipe will become your all-time favourite. We have used jaggery in this recipe, which is much healthier than refined white sugar.

This recipe gives a caramel-like flavour and is perfect to satiate those untimely sugar cravings. Make sure you roast the makhanas well before coating them in jaggery syrup to give them a crispy and crunchy texture. If you are on a diet but have a sweet tooth, then this recipe is perfect for you. Makhanas are low on calories and packed with calcium and fibre.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Makhana
  • 2 tablespoon powdered jaggery/Sakar
  • 2 tablespoon ghee

Method:  

  • Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan. Then add makhana in it and  Roast them till they turn crisp in texture. When they are done, remove the makhanas from heat and transfer them to a bowl.
  • In the same pan, heat 1 tbsp ghee and add 2 tbsp powdered jaggery. Stir well and let the jaggery melt completely to form a syrup-like mixture.
  • Now add roasted makhana to the pan and give a  mix. Make sure all the makhanas are coated well in the jaggery mixture. Stir for about 2-3 minutes, turn off the heat, and transfer to the bowl.
  • Sweet Makhanas are ready to be served.
