Dhokla with Coriander Chatni

DHOKLA

A steamed and nutritious dish, dhokla is not difficult to make. Dhokla is an easy snacks recipe and serves as sweet (half dipped sugary water) and salty (dry). 

DHOKLA INGREDIENTS: 

  • Besan – 2 cup
  • Curd – 1 cup ( or as per dhokla batter constancy)
  • Ginger – 1 Inch
  • Salt- 1 tsp
  • Sugar – 1 tbs
  • Semolina- 1 tbs
  • Oil (for greasing the thali/pot)
  • Eno (plain/lemon)

FOR TEMPERING:

  • Oil: 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds: 1 tsp
  • A few curry leaves
  • A pinch of asafetida powder

METHOD:

  • Take a bowl and put besan, curd crushed ginger, salt and sugar and mix all the ingredients. 
  • When it becomes smoother batter without lumps then give it 10 mistunes rest.
  • Take a pot/thali and grease it.
  • After 10 minutes rest add Eno and mix it quickly and transfer the batter into pot/thali.
  • Put the pot into the steamer and steam it for 10 -15 minutes on low flame. 
  • (You can check if dhokla is ready or not with a toothpick, put the toothpick in dhokla and if it comes clean that means it’s ready.)
  • Now pour the tempering on it and cut it into square pieces. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot.

  • Put all the ingredients in the mixer and grind well.
  • Add water in small-small quantity and it’s ready.
